Rodent droppingscleanup
Accumulated rodent droppings and nesting can carry hantavirus. Cleaning it the wrong way puts particles in the air you breathe.
DOSH
Don't sweep it,don't vacuum it
Deer mice and other rodents can carry hantavirus, which spreads when dried droppings, urine or nesting are disturbed and particles get into the air. Sweeping or vacuuming dry waste is exactly the wrong move. Public health guidance calls for wetting contaminated material with disinfectant first and wearing proper respiratory protection.
Alliance handles rodent waste the way a hazmat crew handles any contaminated site: containment, respirators under a NIOSH-approved program, wet methods, sealed packaging and documented disposal.

Rodent Droppings CleanupFAQ
Is a few droppings a big deal?
Small amounts can often be handled with careful wet cleaning, but heavy accumulations, nesting, or enclosed spaces like attics and crawlspaces should be handled by a trained crew with respiratory protection.
Why not just vacuum?
Vacuuming and sweeping dry droppings can put contaminated particles into the air. Wet methods and proper protection are the safe approach.
Do you remove insulation?
Yes. Insulation contaminated with droppings and urine usually has to be removed and replaced.
Do you do pest control?
We handle the contaminated cleanup. Exclusion and pest control are typically done by a pest-control company, before or alongside our work.
